Project Highlights

Serena Hotel (DRC Congo)

Duration: 9 months (2020 to 2021)

Material: Ceramic tiles and glass tiles

Technique: Mosaic Art

Size: 21.75 m2

This was a commission we did for Serena Hotels in the Democratic Republic of Congo in Goma.

We created green leafy mosaic foliage at the main restaurant buffet area.  To depict the flora and fauna of the Congo rainforest.

We also went on ahead and did an abstract mosaic art piece of Mt. Nyiragogo volcanic lava in a molten movement. With bold ceramic colored tiles of reds and Oranges in a combination of chipped black stone slates with mirrors and silver glitters. All this we installed as picture hangings ascending by size as an abstract series. This was a series of work that was installed at the entry of the Nyiragongo nightclub in the hotel.

Finally, we installed another handmade mosaic artwork in the coffee area with colorful glass tiles. It had a wide variety of color mosaic palette; reds, greens, browns, whites, golds, and many other glass mosaic colors to create coffee bushes, with their berries.

This was an interesting project working under the guidance of Studio 62 Interiors Ltd., who were the consulting interior designers for the esteemed hotel.
